Siyanda Siko
Siyanda is a development activist and sustainability professional with vast national and international experience. He works as Manager - Sustainability Programmes at Sibanye-Stillwater.
Siyanda previously worked as the Country Coordinator of a United Nations (UN) inter-agency programme called Partnership for Action on Green Economy (PAGE) in South Africa. Launched in 2013, PAGE was a direct response to the UN’s call at Rio+20 to support countries wishing to put sustainability at the heart of their economic policies to advance the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Paris Agreement.
Siyanda also chairs the board of trustees at Bophilo Impilo Development Centre (BIDC), a non-governmental organisation (NGO) based in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. BIDC provides integrated socio-economic development, training and research programmes to create self-reliant individuals and organisations in the Eastern Cape. He is also a board member at Children on the Move (COTM). COTM is an NGO that provides a holistic service that is accessible to orphans and vulnerable children affected and infected by HIV/AIDS within the family and community structures in Atteridgeville, Pretoria.
Siyanda is holds MSc Sustainable Development from School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. He completed the Certificate on Sustainable Business Strategy from Harvard Business School; Sustainability Practitioner Programme at Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership; Advanced Management Development Programme at University of Pretoria and Certificate on Sustainability Reporting Standard from the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). He earned his Bachelor of Administration in Political Science at University of Fort Hare. Siyanda’s current research interest includes green recovery post COVID-19 and just transitions to low carbon climate resilient economy.
