Nominating a Changemaker

Individuals do not need to be nominated to be considered for the programme. All nominees go on to complete the same online application form as individuals who apply directly. Being nominated and the number of nominations a candidate receives do not impact applicants’ evaluation or likelihood of their acceptance into the programme.

Individuals who have been nominated will be sent an automated email with details about the programme and a link to complete the online application form.

Yes, you can nominate up to 5 individuals.

There is no advantage to nominating yourself. Applicants interested in applying should begin an application here.

We strongly encourage nominations to be submitted by 22 January 2024. This will ensure the nominee has enough time to submit the online application by 29 January 2024 due date.
Applying to the Fellowship

Applications are due by 18:59 (CAT) on the 29 January 2024 via the online form only. Kindly note that applications cannot be modified after they’ve been submitted.

Applicants will receive an email notification about the status of their application by March 2024.

No, there are no academic requirements for acceptance.

Yes! The Fellowship is open to everyone as long as you meet the eligibility requirements.
Participating in the Programme

Applicants who advance to the finalist stage will be informed of all programme details including all dates, the location of the residency, and virtual convenings duration.

No. There is no substitute for your presence at AFRE sessions. Participation is mandatory for all required programme activities. As a Fellow, you are expected to be on time for each session and to be present for the duration of the session. In the case of absence due to illness, unavoidable travel or family crisis, AFRE must be informed prior to the start of the session.

No, English does not need to be your first language. The programme is delivered in English and Fellows will need to demonstrate a high level of English proficiency to participate in the programme.

AFRE will cover all travel, lodging, and meals related to programme activities.
The award is expected to cover any incidental costs or personal travel not paid directly by the programme.
AFRE will also cover the costs of visas, but Fellows are expected to cover the costs of passport applications or renewals.

AFRE alumni who successfully graduate from the 12-month programme will be invited to join the AFRE Senior Fellows Community and the network of Global Atlantic Fellows.
