Musa Gwebani has a multidisciplinary academic background across the social sciences, commerce and law. She holds a BA in Journalism, a Post Graduate Diploma in Enterprise Management, and a Bachelor or Law degree. Musa began her activism through student politics as a member of the South African Students Congress. Through the work of the organisation, she was actively involved in campaigning around issues of student hunger, student accommodations, decolonising of the curriculum, and student fees. She began her professional career in corporate communications as a writer in organisations such as String Communications and RapidLion - The South African International Film Festival. She later returned to activism through the Social Justice Coalition (SJC) as the Head of Advocacy and Organising. At SJC she worked on issues of land, housing, sanitation, safety and policing in Cape Town's informal settlements.

Musa previously worked at the Open Society Foundation of South Africa where she was a project manager of the Socio-Economic Rights cluster in the organisation. She is now a policy officer at the European Union Delegation to South Africa.
