Daranee Petsod
Senior Advisor, Hyphen
Daranee is an accomplished non-profit leader who has worked for over 30 years to advance justice and equity for marginalized communities. She is a senior advisor at Hyphen, which develops high-impact public-philanthropic partnerships and collaborations to address the most urgent issues facing the United States and advance long-term solutions to achieve equitable outcomes for all. She is also fund advisor to the California Immigrant Resilience Fund (CIRF), which she founded in 2020 as part of a $150-million public-private partnership with the State of California to provide cash assistance to undocumented immigrants impacted by the pandemic.
Previously, Daranee was founding president of Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees (GCIR), the United States’ only immigrant-focused philanthropy-supporting organisation. Guided by her vision and leadership, GCIR evolved from a small network into an influential national organisation. The organisation has catalysed and leveraged hundreds of millions in philanthropic funding to advance justice and equity for immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers—and cultivates their inclusion in and contributions to the U.S.
Daranee has authored and co-authored numerous research reports on a range of immigration and social justice issues, as well as opinion pieces on the role of philanthropy in supporting immigration and immigrant integration.
