Energy Policy Research Associate, Trade Unions for Energy Democracy (City University of New York)

I am committed to the social, political and economic emancipation of my fellow people. I am a Pan-Africanist eager to make contributions and form cross-cultural connections with others in the struggle.

Brian Kamanzi is an energy policy research Associate with the Trade Unions for Energy Democracy (City University of New York) and a research consultant with Institute for Economic Justice (Johannesburg). He has been working to provide technical policy support for sections of the South African trade union movement around the Just Energy Transition.

Brian holds a Master's in electrical engineering and has worked in the wind energy sector in the operations & maintenance environment, public advocacy campaigns and community radio. He also participated in the student-worker uprisings in South Africa in 2015/16 where he became involved in a number of popular education formations.

Brian regularly pushes political commentary on a variety of local and international platforms on issues relating to climate change, Pan-Africanism, free education, among other issues.
