On October 26, from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm SAST / 11:00 am to 12:30 pm ET, join us for a conversation that considers possibilities for Black life in 2040.
What is Blackness beyond borders? What if we intentionally looked past familiar narratives of Black life and went in search of something more expansive? What new kinds of futures could we imagine?
Four thinkers and doers—Atlantic Fellows Alex Fitzgerald’20 and Saida Ali’18, writer Jason Okundaye, and educator Alistair Scott—will grapple with these questions in a conversation as we launch Moya, our new literary magazine that engages expansive ideas about Blackness and Black futures through writing, visual art, podcasts and more.
This event will consider trends shaping Black life over the next two decades, and the work we can do now to seed futures where Black people in South Africa, the U.S. and globally can thrive.
Attendees will engage with contributors and meet the editorial team behind the inaugural issue of Moya. The event is hosted in partnership with the Atlantic Institute.
Join us for this celebration of Black futures.
