Dorah Marema ‘19 Receives AFRE's Inaugural Senior Fellow Growth Fund Award
Congratulations to Dorah Marema ’19, recipient of AFRE’s very first Senior Fellow Growth Fund Award! Dorah’s project seeks to create an agroecological smallholder farming node in the West Rand of Gauteng, South Africa. She plans to build a collection of communal food garden initiatives that were initiated with the Atlantic Solidarity Fund for Covid-19 and to support existing women agroecological producers to consolidate and expand their operations beyond supplying the Ubuntu Project.
The Growth Fund Award provides investments of up to $10,000 for Senior Fellow projects and convenings that are strategically advancing racial equity. This is a competitive award and all Senior Fellows within the network are encouraged to apply. Funding is prioritised for high-impact proposals that have a track record of impact. Applications for the Growth Fund Award will reopen in April 2021.
